Android App

The Chatelope Android app provides full access to your AI conversations on phones and tablets.

Requirements

• Android 8.0 (Oreo) or higher
• 100MB free storage
• Internet connection (for sync)

Installation

Google Play Store

1. Open Play Store
2. Search "Chatelope"
3. Tap Install
4. Open after installation

APK Installation

For direct APK installation:

1. Download APK from chatelope.com/download/android
2. Enable "Unknown sources" in Settings
3. Open the downloaded APK
4. Tap Install

F-Droid

For open-source builds:

1. Add Chatelope repository to F-Droid
2. Search and install

Setup

First Launch

1. Open Chatelope
2. Choose Sign In or Connect to Server
3. Enter your credentials
4. Wait for initial sync

Server Connection

If self-hosting:

1. Tap Connect to Server
2. Enter your server URL
3. Sign in with your account

Android Features

Material Design

Follows Material You design:

• Dynamic colors (Android 12+)
• Light/dark theme support
• Smooth animations

Notifications

Configure notifications:

1. Go to Settings > Notifications
2. Enable message notifications
3. Set notification channels

Notification types:

• Sync complete
• New messages (if using sync)
• Background tasks

Widget

Add quick access widget:

1. Long-press home screen
2. Select Widgets
3. Find Chatelope
4. Drag to home screen

Widget options:

• Quick Search - Open search
• Recent - Recent conversations
• New Chat - Start new conversation

Share Integration

Share content to Chatelope:

1. Select content in any app
2. Tap Share icon
3. Choose Chatelope
4. Add to conversation or create new

Voice Input

Use Google voice input:

1. Tap microphone in chat
2. Speak your message
3. Auto-transcribed to text
4. Edit and send

Permissions

Chatelope requests:

All permissions are optional except Internet.

Performance

Battery Optimization

Chatelope is battery-friendly:

• Background sync is minimal
• Disable background sync for maximum savings
• Use dark mode for OLED screens

Storage Management

Manage storage:

1. Go to Settings > Storage
2. View usage breakdown
3. Clear cache if needed
4. Manage offline conversations

Offline Mode

Access without internet:

1. Enable offline mode
2. Select conversations to cache
3. View cached conversations anytime
4. Changes sync when online

Troubleshooting

Sync Issues

If sync isn't working:

1. Check internet connection
2. Verify server is reachable
3. Try manual sync in settings
4. Check for app updates

App Crashes

If the app crashes:

1. Update to latest version
2. Clear app cache
3. Reinstall if needed
4. Report issue with logs

Slow Performance

If the app is slow:

1. Close other apps
2. Clear cache
3. Reduce offline cache size
4. Check available storage
